The Pan American Fencing Academy Online Educational Programs |
OVERVIEW
PAFA's online educational programs are delivered using a Moodle, one of the industry standard learning management systems, hosted by a commercial service CRTeacher.
Each course consists of a number of lesson blocks. A block typically has objectives, text material, assigned readings in supporting text books, links to other sources, assigned activities, a discussion forum where appropriate, and a review quiz.
The student who wishes to gain the maximum value from a course:
(1) reviews the objectives for each instructional block,
(2) reads the online material and the assigned sections of supporting texts,
(3) completes the assigned activity,
(4) discusses the activity and the reading with the instructor and other students in the forum,
(5) takes the review quiz,
(6) and reviews the responses provided for each question.
Both the Provost and Master courses have assigned research tasks, along with detailed instructions on how to conduct and report fencing research. These are designed to help prepare the student to write the Fencing Master's thesis, and give the student an opportunity to contribute to the knowledge base of fencing coaching.
